Asus no longer lets you unlock the bootloader of your Zenfone

Read Time:51 Second

Asus is moving away from enabling easy unlocking of its phones. According to several users who contacted technical support, unlocking the bootloader is disabled on the Zenfone 9 and will not work on the Zenfone 10 at all.

Unlocking the bootloader enables enthusiasts to modify the existing software at a lower level or install various third-party solutions. Asus was one of the companies promoting this action, but it appears it’s now discontinuing its support.

We are yet to receive any official information on the matter, which might shed some light on why the company changed its stance.

Asus previously confirmed it would update the tool at least until Q3 2023 when the Zenfone 10 will be freely available on the market. While some users were disgruntled, others reported that the Telegram support team did not know anything about this issue.

The discrepancy in answers raises questions such as what sort of info is fed to the different support teams and which one has the correct information.
