Tecno Pova 5 Pro brings a more powerful Dimensity 6080 chipset, LED lights on its back

Read Time:2 Minute, 24 Second

The Tecno Pova 5 Pro arrives and upgrades the Mecha design with colorful RGB lights on the back panel. And if the Free Fire special edition wasn’t enough of a clue, you should know that the Pova 5 series has a passion for gaming, which is even more pronounced on the Pro model.

The Pova 5 Pro brings more compute power to the table with a Dimensity 6080, a 6nm chip (TSMC) with 2x Cortex-A76 (2.2GHz) and 6x A55 (2.0GHz) and a Mali-G57 MC2.This replaces the Helio G99, which has an identical CPU but a weaker Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. Of course, the Dimensity also enables high-bandwidth, low-latency 5G connectivity.

On this phone the chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM (which is expandable with 8GB extra of virtual RAM), plus 256GB storage. A large 2,820mm² vapor chamber and a 12,979mm² heat dissipation area promise to keep the Dimensity 2°C cooler during heavy gaming.

Like the vanilla model, the phone has a large 6.78” display with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Mobile Legend: Bang Bang can hit the maximum 120fps and thanks to optimizations it can maintain the frame rate at or above 80fps. Free Fire can run at 90fps. Meanwhile, PUBG can make use of the linear motor on the Z-axis for improved haptic feedback.

The Tecno Pova 5 Pro is powered by a 5,000mAh battery, which should last over 9 hours of gaming or over 13 hours of video streaming. With 68W Ultra Charging it can fill back up to 50% in just 15 minutes, while a full 100% charge takes 45 minutes.

Tecno has enabled some cool features like Bypass Charge – this pulls the battery out of the equation and powers the phone directly from a charger or power bank. This reduces heat and reduces wear and tear on the battery. There’s also a port monitoring feature that will warn you if there is water or something else in the port the can damage it.

The Pro has a 50MP rear camera, which can join the selfie camera to shoot “dual view” video, which can be used for vlogs. Also, the phone has stereo speakers on board, which are both Hi-Res and DTS certified.

We promised you a lightshow and here it is – the Pova 5 Pro has LED strips on the back, which can light up in 9 colors. They are used for notifications (e.g. incoming calls), warnings (low battery) and even in-game actions.

The Tecno Pova 5 Pro will be available soon. Like its vanilla sibling, this one will also have a Free Fire special edition. This will include a custom look for the phone and special themes. The Pova 5 Pro Free Fire will be available in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and South America.
