Week 37 in review: Apple brings out the iPhone 15 series with USB-C

This week was Apple’s iPhone 15 event so naturally most of the top stories were related to that.

Apple announced four new iPhones in the same configuration as last year – two vanilla models – the 15 and 15 Plus – and two Pro models – the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. The biggest upgrade is that all new iPhones now have USB-C ports! Heck, even the AirPods got upgraded to USB-C.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus got bumped up to the A16 Bionic chip, have new 48MP main cameras, and now have a Dynamic Island, instead of a notch.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max have the world’s first 3nm chip in the A17 Pro, faster USB 3.0 speeds, a bigger-sensor 48MP main camera, and a new ultrawide camera. But while the Pro gets the same 3x zoom camera as before, the Pro Max debuts a 5x zoom camera, which Apple calls a tetrapixel (it’s sort of a periscope lens). Both Pro models also swap the alert slider to an Action button.

All of Apple’s new iPhones went on pre-order this Friday and will start shipping next week.

Apple also announced the Apple Watch Series 9, and the Watch Ultra 2 with brighter screens, faster processors, and a new Double Tap gesture.

Stories from the world of Android feature the Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro’s prices and renders, Huawei making a return to the global market, and the Remi Note 13 Pro+ among others.

You’re getting much more with the iPhone 15 Pro for not a lot more money.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max now has 256 GB storage in its base version.
