Weekly poll results: Android Auto is the fan favorite, Apple CarPlay also has its fans

Read Time:1 Minute, 15 Second

The results from last week’s poll are in and it’s clear that Android Auto is the leading car software choice for those of you that drive. Google’s solution captured over 50% of all votes while Apple CarPlay comes at a distant second with just over 17% of the pie.

Android Auto and CarPlay are clearly important considerations when buying a new vehicle. This comes as no surprise as both systems offer a greater app selection than the built-in apps on most vehicles’ infotainment systems. They also tend to work smoother and offer a sleek and modern experience but there’s always the question of how long your phone will be supported. Over a quarter of our voters are still confident that they can continue their drives without Google or Apple taking over their dashboards.

There’s a close race when it comes to alternatives in the infotainment market, with 38% of voters being content with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto duopoly while over 34% are open to try different approaches from other companies.

We’ve seen Chinese brands Meizu and its Flyme Auto interface and Huawei’s HarmonyOS take some steps but they are still a long way from reaching the userbases of Apple and Google. Perhaps, GM’s new in-vehicle infotainment system set to debut on the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV may change things around but as it stands, Apple and Google are still the preferred in-car infotainment systems for the majority.
